“Monte do Alamo” The last 25th of March saw yet another “Field Target / BR50” event held by the Clube de Tiro de Campo (CTC). This time, the place chosen for the event was a private piece of land, aptly called “Monte do Alamo” (Alamo Hill), located in the municipality of Redondo, District of Évora. It was amidst the natural beauty of the land, exacerbated by the mix of sunshine and brief spring showers, that over a dozen participants, between CTC members and guests, took their turn in the first National Field Target Match of 2006. The first of a series of 4 matches scheduled for the current year. The match course, set amongst a landscape of gentle slopes, Cork and Holm Oaks, wild flowers surrounded by lush grass and the soothing sound of a glorious gurgling brook of crystal clear water, included 12 FT Targets distributed over 4 lanes. A 5th lane was set up, on a level section of the terrain, for the BR50 match, serving also as a “zeroing” range. The Match itself lasted for over 5 hours, intercalated by a splendid lunch at a typical regional restaurant in the village of Serra D’Ossa. Throughout the day the felling was one of strong camaraderie between all the participants, which made for an extremely relaxed yet competitive environment, focused on the contest and its safety rules, while at same time allowing for the full enjoyment of the surrounding countryside. The next match, the second national match of 2006, will take place on the coming 27th of May in the Municipality of Tondela, District of Viseu. --- March, 2006 | http://www.fieldtargetportugal.com | ctc@ctc.com.pt |
